On This Day: Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Ipswich Town

On this day last year, Fernando Forestieri’s late first-half striker was cancelled out nineteen minutes from time by Andre Dozzell.

Wednesday were nearly behind early on as Freddie Sears forced Kieren Westwood into save.

However, the Owls took the lead three minutes from the break after Forestieri latched onto Ross Wallace’s ball.

Ipswich’s equaliser came against the run of play as Dozzell headed in from close range from Liam Feeney’s cross.

The match should have really ended with a home victory but the Owls couldn’t take their chances. One of the best of the game came from Barry Bannan who, after being set up by Lucas João, hit his shot straight at Bartosz Białkowski.

Fernando Forestieri opened the scoring.
