On This Day: Leeds United 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday

On this day in 2013, Wednesday suffered a 2-1 defeat to Yorkshire rivals, Leeds United.

The first goal of the game went to the visitors – who dominated the first half – when Jermaine Johnson blasted home after 27 minutes. The Jamaican, along with Giles Coke, picked up a yellow card each in the first half.

However, it would be a former Wednesday man to deal the damage. Luke Varney, who spent three loan spells in a row at the Owls, scored twice in six minutes to give the Whites the three points.
